| Joseph's Colour Trophy Award The Joseph’s Colour Trophy event took place in April, and the winner was ANNA LEE-KING, who won both the colour technique and style elements of the competition. In the Trainee section, the winner was DANIELLE JARRETT, who has only been training for one year, but produced a superb effort. Both prize-winners won tickets to attend the L’Oreal Colour Trophy event at Earls Court in May – the ultimate hair colouring and commercial look event of the year, where they will watch leading salons showing the looks which everyone will be wearing next year. The aim for the 10 entrants in the Joseph’s Colour Trophy is to create a total look that captures the autumn/winter style for 2008 – taking into account anew easy to repeat colouring technique, cut and overall look for each model. The entrants produced mood boards showing their inspirations and also how they developed their ideas from those inspirations. The colouring technique had to be such that it could be easily trained in and used every day in the salon, hence a new colour service is born! Then, just for fun, the entrants were given half an hour to transform the modern styles into avant garde images suitable for a Masquerade Ball. This section was inspired by the prize trip where some of the stylists visited Venice in October and saw party-goers prepared for the Masquerade Ball. The creative and artistic standards for the competition were exceptionally high, giving the judges difficult choices. The judges were: Binky Nixon, professional photographer Carol Sawyers, business advisor Jo Stephens, managing director of The Joseph’s Experience Managing Director, Jo Stephens, said ‘We are very proud of the standards and creativity produced by the stylists and trainees. The team and their models spent a lot of time and effort to produce mood boards, suitable clothing and make-up as well as preparation to come here today to take part. It has been a great success, and exciting for the future of the salon, as well as great fun for all concerned. |
